Shower heads

Scale clogs the nozzles on a shower head the same way it clogs a faucet aerator. Sometimes a soak brings it back; often a new head is the better answer.

A head that drips at the arm connection needs fresh thread tape or a new washer. A drip from the head with the valve off points back to the shower valve cartridge.

Tub spouts and diverters

When you pull the diverter and water still pours from the spout, the diverter gate inside the spout has worn. On most tubs the fix is a new spout.

Matching the connection is the key detail.

We check whether yours slips on with a set screw or threads onto the pipe, then match the new spout to it.

When the valve is the problem

A shower that drips steadily or will not hold temperature usually needs a new cartridge in the valve behind the handle. If the valve is a model with parts still available, that is a routine fix.

Valves that need to be cut out and replaced in the wall move into remodel territory. Szeto Remodeling handles that.

Quick answers

Can I keep my handle trim?

Usually, as long as the cartridge for that valve is still made.
